Airports in Egypt

 

CAIRO AIRPORT is the busiest airport in Egypt. It is located 15km from the business area in the north east of the city. Cairo is the largest city in the Middle East and Africa. Cairo has been known as Babylon-in-Egypt, Memphis, El-Fustat, Heliopolis, and recently Al-Qahira. This is an excellent point to visit the many architectural sites such as The Pyramids of the Pharaohs, The Sphinx, early Christian monasteries and churches, Salah El-Din's Citadel and mosques of the Mamluke and Ottoman sultans form a historical mosaic. LUXOR AIRPORT is the main airport serving the city of Luxo. It is located 6km east of the city. It is only 60 minutes flying time from Cairo. This city is full of magnificent temples and tombs. There is plenty of sightseeing, excursion tours and attractions in Luxor. Why not try the Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan or trip to the Luxor Temple,  Esna, Dandara & Abydos, Sound and light show at Karnak Temples and tours to the East and West Banks.On the West Bank is the Valley of Kings and Valley of Queens, both profusions of historic and artistic wealth, where the ‘Temples of Hatchepshut’ and Ramses II mortuary, the ‘Temple of Medinet Habu’ stand in magnificent contrast to the unmarked tombs of the pharaohs hidden underground which include the tomb of Tutankhamen.

 

HURGHADA AIRPORT is located inland about 5km southwest from Hurghada downtown (El Dahar). It is about 60 minutes flying time from Cairo. This was originally a fishing village but is growing due to the fantastic beaches and nightlife. Hurghada Airport services El Gouna and Soma Bay two fantastic holiday destinations. El Gouna lies on  about 10km of beach front north of Hurghada and Soma is South of Hurghada. Excursions in this Red Sea area include, Monastery of St Paul, and Monastery of St Anthony. Fishing tours, snorkelling and Giftun Island and a variety of Desert Safari trips. You can also do a day trip from Hurghada to Cairo by plane or overnight by coach.

 

SHARM EL SHEIKH AIRPORT (formally known as Ophira Airport) is located in Sharm el Sheikh a city on the Southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula on the costal strip between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai. It is about 60 minutes flying time from Cairo. This airport serves Sharks Bay transfer 45minutes, Naama Bay 25minutes,Hadaba 60 minutes, Nabq 25 minutes. There is a wide range of things to do from this fabulous beach holiday destination. Visit Cairo by coach or flight.
